William [Bill] Smart is on the front row second in from the right, he was born 1898 at 53 Francis Street.
Dave think that the group are the Boys Brigade.
Apr 2010 update, received this email from Eric Parker :-
The photo is definitely the Boys Brigade and is the 1st Company Doddridge
Castle Hill (see 'Remember Now Thy Creator' by Albert V Eason printed in
1982) It was formed in 1899 so I would date the photo as being taken about
1910/11.
This book details the history of the BB in Northampton. It does not include
this photograph so I would imagine the Northampton BB archivist would be
pleased to have one to add to their collection. Their HQ, 'BB House', used
to be on the Mayorhold but I am now out of touch and do not know if it still
exists.
